Fairbanks— The ladies of Women's Igloo No. 8 dressed in their Golden Days finery on Friday, July 20, 2018, to host the annual Regents' Tea for the town of Fairbanks at the Civic Center in Pioneer Park in honor of Fairbanks King and Queen Regents, Frank and D.A. McGilvary. Other Pioneer dignitaries were also present from around the state, including Grand Igloo President Lee Pederson and his wife, Diane.
With a backdrop of beautiful flowers and lovely floral centerpieces for the tables provided by the Fairbanks Garden Club, the joint theme of the tea and flower show was "Hometown Heroes." The traditional formal tea service began at 1 pm with a spread of delectable finger foods. Coffee and tea were served individually to guests by past presidents of Women's Igloo No. 8.
Well attended, the entertainment included the piano stylings of Matt Reckard, a recitation of Robert Service's "The Cremation of Sam McGee" by Michael Gibson, and an audience participation portion where event goers dressed in costume presented information about their outfits.
