Fairbanks– The Fairbanks 2018 officers were installed in a ceremony on Monday, January 8, 2018. Beginning with a dinner at Pike's Landing Restaurant, followed by the drive over to Pioneer Hall in Pioneer Park, the ceremony was held in the Stampede Room.

It was one of the best Officer Installations in many years and the rehearsal held earlier that day really paid off in an almost flawless ceremony.

Jim Plaquet of Men's Igloo No. 4 and Wanda Huber of Women's Igloo No. 8 were thanked for a job well done as our 2017 Igloo Presidents.

Grand President Lee Pederson was almost speechless when he unwrapped the beautiful jade clock presented to him by the men of Igloo No. 4. The ladies of Igloo No. 8 presented his wife, Diane, with a 2018 Pioneer Women calendar. Not to be outdone, Gene Hansen presented Diane with one of his handmade cork boards on behalf of both Igloos. The gesture brought a smile to everyone’s face.

The ceremony concluded with the singing of the Alaska Flag Song led by our own Joy McDougall. A reception followed in the beautifully decorated Pioneer Hall where
everyone enjoyed cake, coffee and punch.
