Alaska's History

The two Igloos in Fairbanks, Men's No. 4 and Women's No. 8, work steadfastly to keep Alaska's history alive with a strong focus on the history of the Tanana Valley and its largest city, Fairbanks. Our quest for history doesn't end there, though. Whenever, wherever we find something that shows who we were so that future generations can see, hear, or touch our past to learn from it; we do our best to preserve it or honor it in some way whether it is through the creation of museums, archives, displays or keeping traditions that are still being enjoyed by our residents today.

Explore our History section to learn more about the places you can visit and events you can experience, either in whole or in part due to the efforts of the Pioneers.
