Walk for Kitty, Get Some Swag on May 11

Beginning at 6 pm on Friday, May 11, 2018, Explore Fairbanks will host the Fairbanks Sixteenth Alaska Visitor Industry Walk for Charity. This “4K Graze” is a walk where participants eat their way through a food vendor dotted course beginning at the Immaculate Conception Church parking lot and meandering through downtown Fairbanks. The trek ends at the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center where more food, desserts, music, games and prizes await the walkers.

The Pioneers of Alaska Fairbanks Women’s Igloo No. 8 and Men’s Igloo No. 4 invite fellow Pioneers and the public to join our team of walkers to raise money in support of the Kitty Hensley House Museum.

Charity Walk Swag
31 registered walkers for the Kitty Hensley House Muserum will receive a random blue or gold bandana, sunglasses, drawstring backsack and a 2018 Kitty Hensley House button (not pictured) on the day of the walk.

The first 31 people officially registered with Explore Fairbanks to walk for the Kitty Hensley House Museum will receive a lightweight drawstring backsack, a 2018 Kitty Hensley House button, sunglasses, and a bandana which can be used for the walk. Backsack and sunglasses are courtesy of RetailMeNot, Inc. The next 2 registrants get sunglasses and a bandana. The next 2 get a bandana. All gifts will be issued at the assembly area for the walk between 4 and 6 pm on May 11.

When you register to walk for Kitty Hensley House, 100% of your entry fee will be donated to the Kitty Hensley House Museum at Pioneer Park. If registering before May 7, 2018, the fee is $25/adult or $15/child (6-12 years of age). Late registration fee (after May 7) is $30/adult or $20/child. Last year, we raised $560 in donations and walking fees. We’re hoping to double that this year.

Online registration begins April 2, 2018, at http://explorefairbanks.com/charitywalk and registrants can pay with a credit card. You can also register online to pay with cash or check. To pay with cash or check, you must pay at the apron pickup on May 7 from 3-7 pm at the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center, 101 Dunkel St. All registered walkers must come to apron pickup. The apron, issued to each registrant, is your ticket to all the food and goodies dispensed throughout the course. No apron, no goodies.

Walkers registered by May 7 are eligible for prizes. Late registrants can also sign up during this period but a $5 late registration fee is applied and late registrants are not eligible for prizes.

Join us for the fun, food, camaraderie and a little exercise, all while raising money for a worthwhile charity. And if you can’t walk, donations are gratefully accepted.
